SAVE Projects Inc is proud to work with some beautiful South African children with a disability through our support of the The Nature Centre and Centre for Child Development in Hazyview.
One of our international projects involves the funding of a School Teacher and continued support at the Child Development & Skills Centre in Hazyview, South Africa.
The Centre is for children who are unable to attend regular schools due to their mental or physical disabilities and has been a long-time vision for Marina Lotter who runs Horse Whispers where the centre is located.
The centre first opened in 2015 with just 5 children and now there are 12 who regularly attend.
Their days are spent not only learning in the classroom but with activities such as tending to and riding the horses, art, music, gardening and learning about the beautiful nature and animals that surround them.
In 2016 children were given a bright new T-Shirt and a name tag to wear when they attend school. While it might be just a T-Shirt to most, it gives these children a real sense of belonging.
It became very apparent that the children thrived with having a uniform, so in June 2017, SAVE Projects sponsored the purchase of a school shirt for each one of the children who attend the school. Having a uniform to wear has given these children a strong sense of equality and belonging. Recently they made a visit to Kruger National Park and represented the school beautifully, wearing their uniform with pride.
To ensure these children start their school year just like everyone else, SAVE Projects have sponsored the purchase of a new School Bag for each student. We look forward to seeing some pictures of them next year when school resumes.
We love what Marina and her staff do at Horse Whispers and the Child Development Centre, their dedication to the well being of the children in the local community is amazing and inspiring.
Thank you for your continued support of this project, you help give these children hope and a purpose.
